SOME TIPS WHEN YOU NEED A LITTLE R&R

AFTERNOON! 

I’VE BEEN FEELING SUPER STRESSED LATELY WITH WORK AND LIFE AND FEEL LIKE I NEVER HAVE A LOT OF TIME TO MYSELF. TODAY HAS BEEN BLISS AS I’VE HAD NO ONE AND NOTHING TO DISTRACT ME, IT’S BEEN NICE A PEACEFUL AND I’VE HAD NOTHING THAT I NEEDED TO REALLY DO. THERE ARE THINGS THAT I HAD PLANNED TO DO BUT MY BODY WAS SCREAMING FOR A LITTLE BIT OF REST. UNFORTUNATELY AT THE MOMENT EVERYONE LEADS SUCH BUSY LIVES THAT PEOPLE FIND IT DIFFICULT TO FIND TIME FOR THEMSELVES.

I THOUGHT I WOULD SHARE WITH YOU SOME OF THE LITTLE THNGS THAT I DO FOR MYSELF WHEN I FEEL I’M STRESSED OUT OR JUST NEEDING I LITTLE R&R:

1: NEW HAIR DO-

SO ANYONE WHO KNOWS ME KNOWS I GENERALLY CUT AND COLOUR MY OWN HAIR. I HAVE DONE FOR YEARS, IT SAVES ME SO MUCH MONEY AND SOMETIMES JUST TAKING THE TIME TO DO THAT FOR MYSELF GIVES ME THAT LITTLE EXTRA BIT OF CONFIDENCE THAT I NEEDED TO GO ON WITH THE DAY. I’M NOT SAYING YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE EXTREMES AS I DO BUT EVEN TRYING A NEW HAIRSTYLE AND TAKING THE TIME OUT TO EXPERIMENT WITH YOUR HAIR MIGHT GIVE YOU THAT CONFIDENCE BOOST. IF YOU HAVE STRAIGHT HAIR CURL IT, IF YOU HAVE CURLY HAIR, STRAIGHTEN IT. SHORT HAIR? GET EXTENSIONS, LONG HAIR WHY NOT SHAVE IT OFF? EVERYONE HAS THAT ONE HAIRSTYLE THAT THEY WANT TO TRY, AND EVEN IF YOU DON’T HAVE A CLUE WHAT TO DO GO ON YOUTUBE AND SEE IF THERE’S ANY TIPS YOU CAN FOLLOW. YOU MAY LOVE THE OUTCOME OR, HATE IT. SOMETIMES YOU DON’T GET IT RIGHT AND YOU KNOW WHAT? THAT’S OKAY TOO! LIFE IS NOT PERFECT SO YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE EITHER!

2: HAVE A BATH-

I LOOOVE HAVING A BATH! ESPECIALLY IF MY BODY IS FEELING REALLY SORE OR I JUST NEED TO STOP FOR A BIT AND THINK. I NORMALLY LISTEN TO AN AUDIO BOOK OR A PODCAST AND JUST LISTEN TO THE WORDS AND LAY THERE, I CLOSE MY EYES AND IMAGINE I AM SOMEWHERE DIFFERENT. IT’S PROBABLY THE ONLY TIME I CAN FULLY SAY THAT I CAN SHUT EVERYTHING OUT AND JUST REST. I ALWAYS HAVE A BIT OF BUBBLE BATH AND FULL THE TUB UP AND MAKE SURE IT’S NICE AND TOASTY WARM.

3: TALK TO A FRIEND-

I LOVE THOSE CONVERSATIONS YOU HAVE WITH YOUR BESTIE ABOUT JUST ABOUT ANYTHING. WHERE YOU TALK ABOUT THE OLD TIMES, CATCH UP WITH WHATS GOING ON WITH EACH OTHERS LIVES, CHAT ABOUT CELEBRITY GOSSIP AND JUST GOSSIP IN GENERAL. THERE’S NOTHING THAT A GOOD CHAT WITH YOUR BESTIE CAN’T FIX. EVEN IF SOMETIMES YOU DON’T WANT TO TALK ABOUT WHAT IS GOING ON, JUST HAVING THAT MOMENT WITH YOUR FRIEND IS THE BEST, MOST HEART WARMING FEELING AND TO BE HONEST THERE’S NOTHING THAT COLOUR COMPARE TO THAT.

4: LISTEN TO MUSIC-

THIS IS A BIT OF A GIVEN BUT I THINK MUSIC CAN FIX ANYTHING! THERE IS LITERALLY A SONG FOR ANY MOOD OR SITUATION. MY NUMBER ONE THING THAT I DO IF I WANT TO LET GO IS PICK A SONG THAT I LOVE, PUT IT ON AT FULL CRANK AND DANCE AROUND LIKE NO ONE IS WATCHING. THERE’S A SENSE OF FREEDOM THAT IS SO UPLIFTING. YOU FEEL ALL YOU STRESSES GO, AND YOU CAN JUST SMILE AND LAUGH AT JUST HOW RIDICULOUS YOU CAN BE.

5: MEDITATION-

I WAS ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO NEVER USED TO BELIEVE IN MEDITATION. MY DAD STARTED DOING IT AND I WOULD LAUGH AT HIM BECAUSE I DIDN’T THINK THAT IT WOULD WORK. I CAN NOW SAY HOWEVER HOW WRONG I WAS. IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE A BIG THING THAT TAKES FOREVER. YOU DON’T EVEN NEED TO HAVE ANYTHING SPECIAL. JUST SIT ON A CHAIR, CLOSE YOUR EYES AND JUST SIT THERE FOR HOW EVER LONG YOU FEEL THE NEED TO AND JUST BRETHE IN AND OUT, IN AND OUT AND FOCUS ON NOTHING BUT YOUR BREATH. YOU FEEL SO MUCH BETTER AND RELAXED AFTERWARDS. I DOWNLOADED THE CALM APP ON MY PHONE WHICH HELPS ME AND I COULDN’T RECOMMEND IT ENOUGH!
